Tutors Come to the House—Because I Know What They Need

When people hear I have tutors come to the house, the first thing they ask is,
“Are the kids behind in school?”

No.
They’re actually doing just fine.
But I don’t wait until things fall apart to step in.

I know what my kids need.
And sometimes, it’s not about catching up, it’s about having someone explain things at their own pace,
Where they feel comfortable asking the same question three times if they have to.

Tutoring isn’t a punishment in this house.
It’s a resource.

I’m not about to shame them for struggling, or act like I can explain fractions when I barely remember them myself.
And yes, I could drive across town to a center, but why should I?
If I can bring that support into the home, I will.

They finish their sessions in their pajamas sometimes.
They’re comfortable, focused, and in a place where they feel safe to learn.
That matters more than anything.

I know people have their opinions.
But I’m not parenting based on opinions.
I’m parenting based on my children.
On who they are.
And what they need.

But I do wonder sometimes…
Why do we wait until our kids are drowning before we give them a life jacket
