The Parent Path

Am I the ATM or Her Baby Daddy?

Every time my phone rings and I see my babymamas’ name lighting up the screen, I pause.
Because I already know it’s about money.

And if I’m being honest? It’s starting to feel like I’m her funding.
I’m asking for myself now: Am I the ATM or Her Baby Daddy?

Every Call Feels Like a Transaction

I answer every time, because I don’t want to be “that guy.”
The one who disappears or says, “Talk to my lawyer.”

But over time, it’s become clear: Check-ins to know how he’s doing? Rare. Her contributions? Even rarer.
What’s always consistent?
The asks. “Can you send me something?”
“I bought him shoes, can you cash app me back?”

Yes, I’ll always make sure my son has what he needs.
But when support becomes a one-way street, I start wondering if I’m here to fund her lifestyle..

Fatherhood Isn’t Just Financial

I get it, kids cost money.
That’s not the issue.

The issue is her nonchalance toward our son, because according to her, I earn more and also have custody.

But she spends time with him. It’s her son, for God’s sake!

I’m not an ATM.
I’m not just here to raise him.
He deserves attention and love from both parents.
