Believe me when I tell you nothing in this world will give you peace. I’ve tried it all.
We don’t always recognize that we’re chasing peace.
We give it different names: success, love, freedom, happiness.
But beneath all of it, we’re really searching for one thing: To feel safe, settled, and whole.
For a long time, I looked for peace in all the usual places.
I searched for it in relationships, in a career, and even tried to find it in my children’s laughter, my husband’s embrace, and in planning the perfect vacation that would somehow reset everything.
And for a while, those things worked… sort of.
But peace didn’t live there. Not for long.
Even on the best days, when everybody was happy, and everything seemed “okay.”
There was still a quiet unrest inside me. A gentle whisper in the background saying, “This isn’t it.”
I thought maybe I just needed to change a few things. Practice more gratitude. Get better sleep.
Buy the right planner and color-code my routine.
But even after all that, the restlessness stayed.
And that’s when I realized something that changed everything:
Peace doesn’t come from this world. Not from money nor from love.
Not even from motherhood, as beautiful and fulfilling as it is.
Because anything rooted in this world can shift, break, or fade.
And when it does, so does our peace, if it was built on those things.
But with God, there is a stillness. Steady and unmoved when life does.
He doesn’t waver when I waver.
And the more I draw near to Him, the more I understand peace was never somewhere “out there.”
Peace was always in Him.
Now I think about this often:
Do we really find peace in this world? Or are we just collecting pieces of it until we find Him?
Because nothing in this world will give you peace. But God.
Do you agree? Can we find peace from the mundane things in life or from God?
